There are very many parihara sthalams in  South India for grant of a child to childless couples.  The methods adopted to perform this pariharam also vary from place to place and temple to temple.  But in the temple devoted for the Navaneethakrishnan, with a rare posture of having butter in his both the pals and in a standing posture- idol made of single salagrama stone.

This temple is located at a small village Melasevel, 16 kiolometers in distance from Tirunelveli Junction and on the State Highway to Ambasamudram.  It is in between the villages Gopalasamudram and Pathamadai.  The temple is very ancient and established around 730 Years back a minister in the Court of Travancore Province. In this days it was called as Chadurvedi Mangalam where vedic pundit mastered in all the 4 Vedas lived.  There are three temples devoted for Navanetthkarishnan, Venugopalan and Adhityavarnar.

The Navaneethakrishnan temple was maintained and administered by Vaishnavites mostly, supported by Yadavas for whom the deity is the kula deivam.  This temple was quite familiar  for grant of boon for childless couples.  The couple used to visit the temple, take their bath in the temple tank and worship the deity.  They used to bring  a small idol of Navaneethakrishnan under Adiseshan made of granite and leave it in the premises.  It is believed that they are blessed with a child after this prayer and the visit to the temple.

The temple was damaged extensively in the absence of any maintenance and repairs. Pooja was not conducted for many Years.  It was more or less abandoned.  The descendants of the village to whom Navaneethakrishnan is the Kula Deivam, joined their hands together in the Year 2006, collected adequate funds and renovated the entire complex under the leadership of Sri (Late) S V Bhaskara Mudaliar, Pannaiyar of the village and Sri (late) Narayana Iyer  Retd Dy.Collector of Tirunelveli District.   Mahasamprokshanam was performed in January 2000 and ever since then, regular puja was performed everyday.  Sri Navaneethakrishnaswami Narpani  was formed with all the kuladeivakarars as its members.  This mandram has understaken to maintain this temple in every aspect by engaging archagar, maintenance and conduct of various festivals during the Year.  Recently in the month of May 2015, Mahasampriokshanam was celebrated under the holy presence of H.H.Jeer of Thirukurungudi Mutt.

Gokulashtami, Purattasi Garuda sevai, annual kalasibishekam are the major activities in the temple.

The birth Star of Navaneethakrishnan is ROHINI and on this day every month, special puja used to be conducted.  In the last 15 Years, sincere prayers made to the deity by the childless couples were answered in their favor.  As this fact was not known to many people, the Narpani Mandram have released the information to the Tamil magazines and some of them like Sakthi Vikatan, Deepam, Kalki and Dina Malar carried it in their editions.  Now many people have come to know the significance of this temple and made inquiries to conduct this puja.
